June 2006	Eleventh Biennial International Association for the Study of Common Property (IASCP) Conference. Survival of the Commons: Mounting Challenges and New Realities - Bali, Indonesia, June 19 - June 23, 2006. CIEL is organizing several panels composed of partners, including Africa and Asia panels on community-based natural resource management and public interest law.
March 2006	International Association for the Study of Common Property (IASCP) Europe Regional Meeting. Building the European Commons: from Open Fields to Open Source - Brescia, Italy, March 23-25, 2006.
January 2006	2006 Polycentric World Social Forum. CIEL Law and Communities Program Associate Lauren Baker participated in the World Social Forum in Caracas, Venezuela from January 24-29, 2006. She wrote a memo dialoguing her observations and reflections.
December 2005	CIEL and Philippines Environmental Justice Project partners published a book: Philippine Forum on Environmental Justice: Forest and Coastal Resources.
October 2005	CIEL co-sponsored the Environmental and Public Interest Law Conference and Workshop, held in Bohol, Philippines, from October 25-27, 2005.
June 2005	CIEL published a joint research report, "Communities, Forests and Law of Nepal: Present State and Challenges" with the Federation of Community Forestry Users Nepal (FECOFUN) and ProPublic
August 2004	10th Global Meeting of the International Association for the Study of Common Property (IASCP) in Oaxaca, Mexico. CIEL actively participated in the 10th Biennial Conference, and CIEL Senior Attorney and L&C Program manager Owen Lynch commenced his term as incoming IASCP President-Elect (2004-2010 term).
March 2004	CIEL Co-Sponsors 4th All Asia Public Interest Environmental Law Conference while Launching Two Publications on Community Based Property Rights

March 2004	Conference on Prior Informed Consent: Emergence as a Principle of International Law, and Implementation at International, National and Local Levels.
January 2004	CIEL collaborates on a Human Rights & Environment workshop and participates in the Land Rights Mela for the 2004 World Social Forum in Mumbai, India on January 19, 2004. CIEL also presents case studies during a workshop on export credit agencies.
October 2003	International Tribunal in Brazil Condemns Violation of Rights of Landless Workers and the Environment.
January 2003	CIEL is a principal organizer of a workshop on Human Rights and the Environment at the 2003 World Social Forum in Porto Alegre, Brazil on January 26, 2003.
January 2003	CIEL organized a workshop at the Asian Social Forum, Hyderabad, India titled: "Environmental Justice: Linking Human Well being and the Environment" on January 6, 2003.
December 2002	CIEL organized and co-hosted the North America/South Asia Conversation on Environmental Justice in Sariska, India.

September 2002	CIEL organized a Community-Based Property Rights panel and participated in a Human Rights workshop during the World Summit on Sustainable Development on August 26 to September 4, 2002.
June 2002	CIEL organized a workshop on "Applying Theory on the Ground: Promoting Legal Recognition of Community-Based Property Rights, Including Common Property" during the 9th Biennial Conference of the International Association of the Study for Common Property.
May 2002	Proceedings of the African Public Interest Law and Community-Based Property Rights Workshop held in Arusha, Tanzania in 2000 were published, and are available by contacting Kristen Genovese.
April 2002	Community-Based Marine Resources and Coastal Area Management Workshop held at Manado, Indonesia on April 15, 2002.
March 2002	In collaboration with its Indonesian partners -- HuMa (Association for Community and Ecology Based Law Reform), Lembaga Studi & Advokasi Masyarakat (ELSAM - Institute for Policy Research and Advocacy), the Indonesian Center for Environmental Law (ICEL), and the International Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF) - CIEL completed and published a book: Whose Resources? Whose Common Good? Towards a New Paradigm of Environmental Justice and the National Interest in Indonesia.
September 2001	Alternative Lawyering Conference co-hosted by CIEL and the Alternative Law Forum (ALF) in Bangalore, India.
June 2001	Marine and Coastal Resources and Community-Based Property Rights: A Philippine Workshop, June 12 - 15, Batangas, Philippines.
January 2001	CIEL helps score major victory for indigenous rights in Philippine Supreme Court.
November 2000	Workshop on promoting public interest law careers in India.
August 2000	CIEL and Lawyers' Environmental Action Team (Tanzania), in coordination with WRI and IASCP hosted a workshop on African Public Interest Law and Community-Based Property Rights.
June 2000	CIEL hosted a roundtable panel on "Public Interest Law and Community-Based Property Rights, including the Commons" during the 8th IASCP biennial meeting.
May 2000	CIEL co-hosted a workshop on "The Climate Change Convention's Clean Development Mechanism (CDM): Advocating for the Basic Rights of Indigenous and other Local Communities".
