David Hunter, Senior Advisor

David Hunter is a Senior Advisor and formerly served CIEL as executive director and Vice President for Programs. His research and advocacy work covers a broad range of global environment and development issues, including: multinational corporate responsibilities, ozone depletion, and the role of international financial institutions.

In 1998, Mr. Hunter co-authored International Environmental Law Policy, a text for classroom and reference use for academics, practitioners, and policymakers.

During 1991, Mr. Hunter was an environmental consultant to the Czech and Slovak environmental ministries as well as several NGOs in Central Europe. Formerly, he worked for three years as an environmental associate at the Washington, D.C. law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and one year as executive director of WaterWatch of Oregon, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving western water laws. He is a 1983 graduate of the University of Michigan with majors in economics and political science, and a 1986 graduate of the Harvard Law School.
