Anne Perrault, Senior Attorney

Through advocacy efforts and engagements with development institutions, governments, civil society organizations and local communities, Ms. Perrault addresses issues related to accountability and transparency of international financial institutions and export credit agencies, global trade and the environment, and human rights and biodiversity.

Topics of particular interest include:

• Rights of indigenous peoples and other local communities to participate meaningfully in development processes, and free, prior, and informed consent as a mechanism to implement these rights;
• Accountability mechanisms and safeguard policies at international financial institutions and export credit agencies;
• Development institutions and human rights, including gender-related rights;
• International, regional and national approaches to preventing trade-related introductions of invasive alien species;
• Protection of traditional knowledge and access to genetic resources;
• International law and institutions and children's health;
• The Convention on Biological Diversity.

Ms. Perrault manages the International Financial Institutions and Biodiversity Programs at CIEL. Currently she is a member of the U.S. National Advisory Committee advising the U.S. Representative to the Commission for Environmental Cooperation, pursuant to the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation.

Ms. Perrault received her Master of Science degree from the University of Vermont, where she was a Switzer Fellowship recipient. She received her Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University in 1988.
