Kelsey Alford-Jones, Senior Campaigner

Kelsey Alford-Jones is the Senior Campaigner for the People, Land and Resources Program. She has worked on human rights and environmental issues in Latin America, and with Latino communities in the United States, for over 10 years. She joined CIEL in September 2016 after serving as the Director of the Guatemala Human Rights Commission (GHRC) where she worked in solidarity with human rights defenders and victims of abuses. She has extensive advocacy experience and has led campaigns to address a broad range of issues including indigenous rights, resource extraction and land rights, violence against women, militarization, justice for genocide and war crimes, and the intersection between historic impunity and current abuses. Her articles and analysis have appeared in numerous online blogs, publications and media outlets.

Kelsey graduated with honors from Grinnell College with a degree in History and Spanish. She has a certificate from American University Washington College of Law’s Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law. In 2013 she received the Community Human Rights Award from the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area.
