The Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL) is a nonprofit
organization working to use international law and institutions to protect
the environment, promote human health, and ensure a just and sustainable
society. We provide a wide range of services including legal counsel,
policy research, analysis, advocacy, education, training, and capacity
building. CIEL's goals:
CIEL also directs a joint research and teaching program with The American University Washington College of Law. This joint program includes nine courses on international and comparative environmental law, as well as on-the-job experience through an extensive internship program to help launch the careers of law students and lawyers dedicated to environmental protection. The program’s participants are drawn from the Washington College of Law’s Master of Laws program which each year enrolls 180 foreign lawyers from 60 countries from around the world. Many of the individuals with whom CIEL works are foreign lawyers who have studied in the CIEL/WCL joint program. Additional Resources:
