Katrina E. Anderson

Katrina Anderson is a queer feminist with 25 years experience in the gender justice field as an activist, educator, human rights lawyer, philanthropic advisor and movement strategist. Since 2024, she has served as Director of Philanthropic Field Engagement with the Global Philanthropy Project, helping to mobilize new and better resources for LGBTQI movements in the Global South and East. She leads GPP’s strategic engagement with institutional philanthropy to counter anti-gender and anti-rights forces that threaten our collective future. 

Prior to joining GPP, she co-founded Generative Practice, a consulting firm providing research, advocacy, and strategy expertise to a range of social justice organizations and philanthropic institutions. From 2023-2024, she developed the strategy for the Ford Foundation’s Centering Gender initiative, a $50m grantmaking commitment to counter anti-gender backlash around the world. From 2019-2024 she served as a Senior Gender Advisor to the SAGE Fund, where she led research and advised grantmaking on the intersections of gender justice and natural resource extraction. Throughout her career, she has worked on issues of climate justice, migration, disability rights, sexual and reproductive rights, and gender-based violence.

Katrina holds a BA from the University of Virginia, a JD from Seattle University School of Law, and an LLM in the specialization of international human rights law from American University’s Washington College of Law. She lives in Brooklyn, NY.
