When we think of fossil fuels, we often picture cars, power plants, and factories. But there’s another major player: our food system. Today, food systems consume 15 percent of global fossil fuels. More than half of the world’s fertilizer production is fossil-fueled, taking a toxic toll on our climate, environment and health.

We must phase out fossil fertilizers and transform food systems to serve communities, not fossil fuel interests. Solutions that build soil health, restore ecosystems, and ensure food security already exist.
