Aidan Steer

Program Associate, Corporate Climate Accountability

Aidan (he/him) is the Program Associate for Corporate Climate Accountability in CIEL’s Climate and Energy Program.

Aidan holds an MA in Geography from the University of St Andrews in Scotland and an MA in Geopolitics, Territory and Security from King’s College London, where his work focused on the legal dimensions of natural resource and international boundary disputes in the Middle East and North Africa. During his Master’s program at King’s, Aidan served as a research intern for Canadian NGO IMPACT, spotlighting gender inequality and the environmental and human rights risks associated with the use of mercury in Uganda’s artisanal gold mining sector.

Prior to joining CIEL, Aidan worked at CDP assessing and incentivising corporate progress towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting forests and safeguarding water resources, concentrating on water security. He has also volunteered for international children’s charity Viva and gained work experience at the World Resources Institute (WRI). Aidan has a background in political geographic analysis, development research and corporate environmental disclosure.
