Niccolò Sarno

Media Relations Specialist

Niccolò Sarno (he/him) is CIEL’s Geneva-based Media Relations Specialist. He manages global media relations.

Prior to joining CIEL, Niccolò spent twenty years coordinating relations with the media for global environmental non-profits, including Greenpeace International, Friends of the Earth International, and the Rainforest Alliance, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

He led media relations for Friends of the Earth International for thirteen years, helping to position the federation as a global leader in environmental justice, promoting its campaigns in the media, and increasing its media profile globally including during key UN events.

Before joining the non-profit world, Niccolò was the Brussels-based correspondent and editor for news agency Inter Press Service, a Global South media outlet. He covered EU and international affairs with a focus on human rights and the environment. More recently, he managed communications and digital strategy at the Radio Netherlands Training Center, which offers training to journalists and civil society communicators from the Global South.

Niccolò holds a B.A. in Business Administration from John Cabot University in Rome, Italy. He is passionate about communication, collaboration, mindfulness, yoga, food, and cooking.Niccolò may be reached at and on Linkedin.
