Katrina E. Anderson
Katrina is a queer feminist activist, researcher, human rights advocate, and philanthropic advisor with 25 years of experience advancing intersectional gender justice. Her work centers feminist and LGBTI communities, particularly in the Global South and East, as well as under-served populations in the Global North. With a foundation in international human rights law, she has led policy advocacy reform efforts and developed philanthropic strategies that reflect a deep commitment to equity and justice.
In August 2024, Katrina joined the Global Philanthropy Project as Director of Philanthropic Field Engagement. In this role, she leads efforts to strengthen and expand philanthropic support for LGBTI movements in the Global South and East. Her work also focuses on ensuring LGBTI communities are prioritized in philanthropy’s response to the rise of anti-gender ideologies around the world.
Since 2017, Katrina has led a consulting practice that supports philanthropic initiatives aligned with intersectional feminist and LGBTI movements. She previously spent eight years leading U.S. human rights advocacy at the Center for Reproductive Rights, where she helped launch the Black Mamas Matter Alliance and collaborated with movements for racial, immigrant, disability, and LGBTI justice. Her earlier work includes pursuing accountability for gender-based crimes in The Hague and supporting grassroots organizations in Southeast Asia. Katrina holds a BA from the University of Virginia, a JD from Seattle University School of Law, and an LLM from American University’s Washington College of Law.
